Our Vision

Dr. Nancy Akunna, Founder and CEO of Diamond of the Season, has long held a vision of seeing minority designers, inventors, and entrepreneurs have greater opportunities to succeed from their talents and efforts. However, as she aspired to see such greatness, she soon recognized that the majority of these ideas and aspirations were simply being carried to the grave by individuals who never got the opportunity to show the world what they were capable of accomplishing. 

The largest hurdle for this failure to see such greatness appeared to be the lack of funding and expertise for these individuals to either properly launch their new startups, or to see their dreams reach the maturity of success. Dr. Akunna’s solution to this problem was the birth of Diamond of the Season. 

Diamond of the Season’s vision is to work with investors, donors, business partners, civic and business leaders, and other individuals who want to see meaningful changes in the growth and economic advancement of minority business owners, entrepreneurs, designers, and inventors.  

We know that when these individuals do not get the chance to bring their ideas and talents to fruition, the world misses out on the benefits that will come from such greatness. There has been a lot of talk and programs to support diverse business ideas and concepts, yet the percentage of minority owners, entrepreneurs, designers, and inventors that get funded is not growing meaningfully enough. 

Therefore, instead of waiting for others to do what should be done, Diamond of the Season is taking the lead to be a “Game Changer” in the funding arena, because nothing is as meaningful to these individuals, then to put actual monies behind their ideas and efforts.
